The Quick Start is a prime example of this type of deliverable. Boiling down a lot of information into just those required to perform the task at hand.
Job Aid
Signs, worksheets, or other objects that may include diagrams and/or a brief summary of instructions and that are designed to reduce avoidable mistakes by helping someone remember what to do and ensure all necessary steps have been completed.
For example, when learning how to use a particular piece of software, you may view an instruction guide with an explanation of the process along with screenshots of the software that are included to help visually direct the user.
Quick Start
A short, simple introductory guide for a piece of equipment or process intended to get a user rapidly acquainted. Think abbreviated user manual.
This is an example of a Quick Start that was developed to assist end-users in the setup of a specific set of equipment at their location. The client provided basic direction, some content, and images from which to build from. Many of the graphics were created specifically for this document.
Case Study
A case study is an often overlooked way of conveying relevant information in the training environment. A case study can help to bring many related ideas and concepts into a single unit. A case study is useful in describing a situation or opportunity and then working one’s way through the various steps to the final outcome.
Case studies can be an effective learning tool for most sales, leadership, or technical oriented disciplines.
